Tallinn is a hidden gem in between the Baltic States and Nordic Countries. It has grown out from the old Soviet Union and is now looking brightly into the west. As a matter of fact, Tallinn has grown out to the west so much, that it doesn’t matter where you are from – you will probably find some welcoming homey food here. Tallinn Old Town and City Centre are full of different tastes – you just need to find the right suitable spot. It doesn’t mean, that there is no local food here – in Tallinn there are plenty of places for that as well. And the same goes for culture. Some of the nicest galleries and museums are located on the streets of Old Town and Kadriorg.
If you are planning to spend some time getting to know Estonia and seeing something new and interesting, then Kadrioru Art Museum is a place to go. It’s located in the Kadriorg Palace, which is built by the Tsar Peter the Great of Russia in 1718. The Palace is designed by Italian architect Niccolo Michetti. He made sure that it would make a good first impressioon of the Tsar so the place is really remarkable. It has always been the crown jewel of Tallinn. We cannot forget a small but not less important Mikkeli Museum right next to the Kadrioru Art Museum. It has many fabulous paintings from the past. For example, if you are visiting Estonia in spring, they are showing one of Pablo Picasso’s originals which is a unique opportunity for Estonia.
Another fascinating Art museum is not far away from there. It’s probably the most popular one and it’s called KUMU. The whole building itself is a magnificent modern art project. The European Museum Forum awarded KUMU the title of ‘European Museum of the Year’. Before visiting we recommend to check their exhibition list on the internet – they always offer a variety of art for everyone.
There are many charming restaurants and cafes for all you ’foodies’ out there as well. If you are planning on having that perfect night next to the sunset with carefully picked class of wine, then you should consider restaurant NOA Chef’s Hall. It has been chosen many times to be the best restaurant in the Baltic States. If you’re more chill person and want to go out to fully relax and enjoy yourself, then Telliskivi Loomelinnak is meant for you. There are plenty of places for all sorts of food experiences, different tastes and forms of cuisine and the place itself looks like an art museum.
