Getting Around Tallinn

Dreamstay

Tallinn’s public transportation system is an efficient, clean, and easy-to-use network. Whether you’re a first-time visitor, a digital nomad settling in, or a local heading across town, the city makes it incredibly smooth to get from A to B. With buses, trams, trolleybuses, and commuter trains all working in sync, Tallinn’s public transit is a big part of what makes the city such a joy to explore.

There are also night buses that run on weekends between around midnight and 3:30, making late nights a lot easier, especially when staying outside of the city center.

Tickets and Fares

Tourists and non-residents can ride affordably with several ticket options:

● 1-hour ticket: €2
● 1-day ticket (24h): €5.50
● 3-day ticket (72h): €9
● 5-day ticket (120h): €11
● 30-day ticket: €30

Tickets can be bought via:

Pilet.ee (iOS and Android) app or online (Tallinn.Pilet.ee)

A QR ticket is a one-hour travel ticket with a rectangular barcode (QR code), which you can scan at orange validators at the front door orange scanner of public transport vehicles. The ticket is valid for 60 minutes from its first validation until the end of the last validated trip. The ticket must be re-scanned at each entry during the one-hour travel period.
If purchasing a ticket on the website, choose the e-mail option.

Contactless bank cards (Mastercard, Maestro, Visa and Visa Electron, Apple Pay, Google Pay) through the orange validators in the front of the vehicles.

As the system automatically tracks your usage and charges your bank account according to the cheapest ticket you are entitled to, multiple one-hour tickets in a single day will be calculated as a one-day ticket.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
● Drivers do not sell tickets in Tallinn’s public transportation.
● Tickets cannot be purchased with cash.

TAXI

If you wish to travel faster and more comfortably you can also call taxi by calling +372 612 0000 or visiting their website Forustakso.ee

Another option to order a taxi is to download the Bolt app. There you can choose what kind of driver and car you wish to travel with. Bolt also offers bikes, scooters and easy to use rental cars.

Uber is also available in Estonia, but it is not as widely used as Bolt so the waiting times may be longer.
